Robert Charles Dallas, a learned aristocrat and distant relative of Byron, wrote a warm letter to Byron’s first book, “Hours of Idleness,” thus beginning a friendship of years. And when the Edinburgh Review wrote aggressive negative reviews of the young poet, would Dallas backed him. After Byron’s death, Dallas would author “Recollections,” an account of Byron’s life from 1808 to 1814.
